The Team

It’s All About People

Erica Lukes – State Director

Erica Lukes’ passion for the subject of Unidentified Flying Objects dates back to her early childhood. After a series of personal UFO sightings in 2013, however, Erica felt compelled to find out what was taking place in her home state of Utah. She decided to take an active role in the UFO subject and, as a result, joined MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network.

Such are Erica’s skills in the field of Ufology, she quickly went from being a MUFON Field Investigator to the Utah State Director for MUFON. She soon took on the role of Associate Producer for the MUFON Communications Team. Erica is also a part of the MUFON Experiencer Research Team. Erica’s efforts led her to being officially recognized as “MUFON Volunteer of the Year,” in both 2014 and 2015.

As her busy schedule increased, Erica chose to resign her post as MUFON State Director. Today, she is the head of the Utah UFO Research Project, an organization which is focused upon scientifically researching UAP – otherwise known as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. Erica works with other UFO-based organizations, too, and on a global level, no less. She is driven to not only broaden public awareness of UAP, but also to develop research protocols that can be utilized by other organizations and to streamline the research process. Erica strongly believes it is imperative that UFO organizations work together to share information.

Erica is the team-leader on a research program called “Project Orange.” This project is specifically dedicated to studying sightings and clusters of orange/red orbs (which are also known as fireballs). On this particular project, she works with several MUFON Field
Investigators: Robert Spearing, Terry Ray and Geoff Cox. Their protocols and findings are now an integral part of MUFON Education, an accomplishment they are all extremely proud of.

Erica has been a guest on numerous radio-based talk-shows, including The Richard Dolan Show; Ground Zero, with Clyde Lewis; Open Minds; Fringe Radio; The Martin Willis Show; Truth Theorem Radio; and the Paracast. Erica has also guest-hosted MUFON Radio. Erica’s speaking engagements include the 2016 Starworks Symposium. She will also be appearing on a major, new television series in the near future.

Geoffrey B. Cox – Assistant State Director

Geoff is currently a Safety Advisor / CEO of DRI Solutions. In April 2008, after 36 years serving between the military as a Air Transportation Instructor in hot spots around the world and DoD as Senior Safety Director for in England, he retired from both. With a Bachelors in Business Management and Associate in Logistics along with Advanced Certifications in Safety he now works with companies worldwide in mentoring and improving their Safety Programs.

Additionally, his background as a Chief of Safety at Hill AFB/Nellis AFB/ Utah & Nevada Test Training Range, Senior Safety Director in Europe, Safety Investigator, functional work in flight/ground/explosives/weapons/ nuclear/ MSHA, Senior Air Transportation Manager, machinists, Program Analyst, military mobilization, and prior Advance Diver has shown in having an upper hand in various investigations.

His interest started at 10 years old reading UFO books that just talked about UFO reports throughout the world without any real insight caught his attention that there had to be more to these sightings than just short stories. With the opportunity to dedicate time toward his rediscovered endeavor he joined MUFON Utah in 2015 thinking that he can make a real difference with an outside perspective in research, kinesics, and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) investigations.

Later this endeavor moved from MUFON along with his good friend Erica Lukes – President and started a research group called Unexplained Utah. This has led to research in all types of UAPs, Paranormal and Cryptozoology, being part of a History Channel and upcoming Discovery Channel show on Dugway and Area 51, radio interviews and a Top 10 UFO Investigation for MUFON 2016.

Bruce Champagne – Director of Cryptozoology Research

Bruce Champagne has always been curious about UFO’s and cryptozoology. As a youth, Champagne investigated and experienced the Sasquatch phenomenon in California. Later, after obtaining his undergraduate degree in marine biology, Champagne conducted research into marine “sea serpents,” disseminating an analysis of the Clark San Francisco Sea Serpent 2004 video, and publishing a marine sea serpent type proposal in the Dracontology and Elementum Bestia journals, now widely cited on the internet.

Champagne’s new research project, and examination of lake “monsters,” with a correlation to marine sea serpents, is scheduled to be published in the fourth edition of the peer-reviewed Journal of Cryptozoology.

Champagne was a member of the original International Society of Cryptozoology and has also authored cryptozoology-related magazine articles and appeared in television news programming. Champagne’s occupation as a law enforcement detective allows him to combine a formally trained investigative skill set with the scientific method in his research.

Tracy and Fred Vega – Paranormal Researchers

Tracey and Fred Vega have been Paranormal Investigators for nine exciting years now. Tracey has always been interested in the Paranormal field. She had her first Paranormal encounter at the age of 11 when her grandfather passed away. From that point on she had a great passion to try and understand the Paranormal encounter.

In 2007, Tracey decided it was time to become more involved in the Paranormal Field and took some classes in becoming a Paranormal Investigator (PI). One of the courses she took was from Tom Carr who has been in the Paranormal field for over 25 years. Tom was the Founder of Wasatch Paranormal Investigators (WPI) with a home base area at Baron Woolen Mill in Brigham City, Utah. It was at this time Fred became interested and started to attend some of the investigations with her. They spent time with Tom and his team investigating a beautiful old building and were eventually put on the WPI team. They learned investigative techniques and are grateful to Tom and his team in where they are today.

Late in 2013, they helped form a team called “Spiritual and Paranormal Assistance” (SAPA). This organization helps residences and businesses having Paranormal issues along with being a non-profit based team providing assistance free of charge.

Tracey and Fred have had many wonderful Paranormal experiences over the years while investigating over 200+ investigations cases in California, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon and Florida.

They are very excited to continue their research and study with SAPA and now welcomed to be a big part of Unexplained Utah.
